My Friend Has VERY Thin Hair, And Damaged, Any Tips On How To Make It Thicker And Healthier?

She Hates Her Hair And She Wants To Give Th eIllusion That Her Hair Is Thick And Volumized. She Also Has Pretty Damaged Hair From Heat Styling Without Using Protection. Does Anyone Have Any Tips On How To Make Her Hair Fuller And Thicker, And Less Damaged? She Already Has Sheer Blonde Volumizing Shampoo, And That Has Helped Some, So Suggesting Shampoo Won't Work.

P.S. We Are Only 12, So We Can't Do Anything Major, Like A $100 HairCut.

Thanks!!

Well I have very thin hair that is very limp, straight and tends to break easily.

In the shower, I use Garnier Fructis Body and Volume Shampoo, and Length and Strength Conditioner.

When I get out of the shower I apply the Garnier Fructis Leave-in Length and Strength Conditioner, but not on my roots! Then, I use either the Garnier Fructis XXL Thickening Mousse or Sunsilk Anit-Flat Weightless Volumizing Creme while my hair is still damp.

When it's dry, I brush it upside down with a boar bristle brush. The mousse gives it lots of texture and doesn't dry sticky (and if you make sure toy brush it, it isn't hard either). The creme gives my hair lots of "oomph". Either way, I don't have to blow dry it (but you can) so my hair is healthier without heat damage.

Good Luck! :o)

First to make it smooth and shiny use lots of mayo and leave it in for half an hour, then wash it out , ad some mousse on the roots, then make her flip her head forward facing the floor then blow dry it, ill be shiny and volumized

Well, at your age, you need to talk to her folks.

She needs to see her doctor and maybe even a dermatologist to see if there are any chemical imbalances that might be causing her hair to thin. Diet is also a big deal with hair since if your body isn't getting the proper nutrients neither will your hair. Have any dead and damaged hair cut off and make sure her that it doesn't get any worse, and go for simple styles that will allow it to grow in again over time.

Next, she will need to STOP doing anything artificial to her hair and look for a shampoo that will help to strengthen and fortify it. You can check at beauty supply stores like Sally for clip on extensions that will give her the appearance of longer hair (ponytail extensions, hair ties, etc. The link below has some examples) but at this point her best bet is to find a short cut that will flatter her features and to let her hair grow back in naturally.

The unfortunate thing about chemically attacking your hair is that it takes a long time and a lot of work to repair, especially when you're young and your hair is still growing in. It's not going to work overnight, and patience is certainly key here. It may take months for the thickness to return and even longer for her to get any decent volume. The most important thing she can do is resist the urge to do anything else to it chemically until it grows back.
