I have short brown hair and it's going to be "Spiced tea" tomorrow, or auburn. I have never dyed my hair before, and my mum is going to help me but I'm still nervous. The brand is Clairol and it's meant for my shade of brown. I need last minute tips please! What do I do if turns out, I dunno, green or something? It washes out in twenty eight shampoos but what if I hate it? What do I do? Just wait? Please help!! I'm happy, but scared!

Ok, don't worry. It'll be like cutting your hair, I promise. You'll be scared at first, but it'll turn out great. Think of yourself as daring and spunky for doing the unthinkable. Clear your mind of all negative thoughts. Focus on only the positives:

-If you do it, your friends with think your daring

-people will respect you more

-you'll feel better about yourself

-you'll be proud of yourself

-you'll smile every time you look in the mirror and think about when you got your hair dyed

I am a stylist, and I will always suggest going to a salon, but since your going to buy box color any way... you do not need to have clean hair to color it, and try washing it with colder water becasue any shade of red fades quickly. But other than that you should be in the clear as long as your hair is virgin

Well I have dyed my hair a lot. Well you really can't go wrong with a semi perm, because even if you don't like the color, it washes out. You are only in trouble if you try for a darker shade and don't like the color (hard to get out)

So, My advice is, this should be a good shade for you. Is your hair light brown? Then this should add the auburn to your hair, but DONT leave on for as long as you will be probably be led to think you should leave it on. Start timing immediately after 30 seconds of application and wash it all out in like 8 or 9 minutes, rather than 10. If you choose, 9, IMPORTANT not to go over this, or your hair will turn out too dark. Follow this for immediate satisfaction, otherwise, you are looking at waiting for several shampoos until it fades to the color you want, and I don't think you want that. Don't overdue the conditioner, in amount or length of time, afterwords, it will cause flat looking hair when you style it. Use white towels cause you can bleach them when they get stained, and use a paint brush when applying the dye. And have fun!

They have programs you can get for your computer so you can see what you would look like with different hairstyles so you can see if you like it or not. Once my sister tried to color her hair purple for a halloween costume and it was supposed to come out in 10 shampoos, but it ended up lasting for 5 months. Good luck. I bet it will turn up looking nice.
