I have naturally dark hair and i used a prelightener then immeadiatly after a normal blonde hair dye. It is blonde now but it looks brassy and a little yellow/orange. What should i do to make it a truer blonde? x

But natural tips, lather it with pure lemon juice from a lemon, and blow dry it or go out in the sun until it dries, you could also add dirty blonde highlights from a box.

to get rid of brassy you need something with blue or purple base. You could re color with a blond that has a blue or purple base with a 30 volume developer. or you can get that shampoo shimmer lights by clairol to take out the brassy.

But in all honesty if you have really dark hair, you have to bleach your hair to get it true blonde. Coloring doesnt bring it up enough

sounds like u didnt leave the dye in long enough. i would wait awhlle until i dye it agian.....i've heard of cases where it falls out. wait at least a couple weeks...and go according to ur new color.......to get to the color u wanted.

I had that problem a while ago if you have dark hair and have gone lighter like that you should buy a hair dye which has red in it like a plum or something other wise if you get a normall color with no red it will go a bit funny , then its best to leave it dark good luck

If I were you i'd go to a salon and let them sort it as putting colour after colour on your hair will only cause it damage. Eventually it will begin to fall out then you'll have no choice but to cut it short.

The reason it turned yellow is becuase the prelightner was not left on long enough. The yellow/orange can be toned down by using purple/shampoo. You can buy the purple shampoo from Aveda called Blue Malva or another brand that works excellent is Shimmerlights.

You can make it a more true blond by, utilizing a Highlighting Kit and only pulling small portions of your hair through a cap and leaving it on until the the hair does not look yellow/orange - that will drastically reduce the yellow/orange and your hair will look more blond with highlights.

Good luck - that has happened to me until I learned you always must leave the prelightner in longer that it states.

i had a similar disaster while trying to streak my hair i used a darker colour like a light brown and then did it again it is suprising how strong the hair is really cos it came out ok with no obvious bad effects try to get one of the less harsh dyes like herbal essence though goodluck

hey im a hair dresser so what you need to do is buy a toner in a light beige colour add shampoo to the colour and shampoo in to your hair leave for about 15 mins and it should tone it down to a nicer colour

My sister and her daughter are both hairdressers, i did the dsame thing, they tolfd me always go to a salon to go blond on dark hair, even ppl witrh light hair going lighter goes very brassy after a while. If you dont want to pay the expence ring local colleges and see if there hair and beuty department need models. our college has a normal salon where u ring and book appointments. it is studens but the have tutors there all the time to guide them, i get a cut wash blowdry and full head colour for 15 pounds. I didnt know about it till my niece started college. good luck
