I have long, fairly thick, blonde hair and when I get out of the shower I comb it with a wide tooth comb for 15 minutes and rip out so much hair, I have tried Pantene (which my beautician told me was bad for my hair) so now I am using Biolage conditioning balm- it is not helping, I do not know why my hair is such a mess to comb? It is naturally very straight and thick, but when wet, it is a tangled rats nest! Someone give me an awesome product to use or a tip please!!!!
Someone give me tips for detangling long, thick blonde hair!?
Make sure your are getting your hair trimmed and "thinned out"- which is a sort of jagged layering that keeps the length. That's what I have to do with my long thick hair. Blond hair tends to be dry. The biolage is very good - try some of Matrix's products for anti-frizz. Use a wide toothed plastic bristled brush instead of a comb. This combination will provide a gentler, smoother result. Also, use leave on conditioner in your hair. The better you baby it, the longer you can keep it long.
P.S. Don't let anyone convince you to chop it all off.

I have long blond hair to and I tend to have the same problem. I use conditioner and it helps with the rats nest. But you will still have alot of hair left in the brush or comb. Naturally everyone loses up too 100 hairs a day.

First, sleep with your hair in a loose ponytail with a soft scrunchie (so it doesn't break hairs.) Then in the morning, comb your hair gently with the wide-tooth comb to get tangles out. It'll be much easier to deal with if it's dentangled before you wash it. I'm having great luck with Herbal Essences Light and Clean conditioner.

use detangler serums and sprays. but for your case, spring for the good stuff that costs like $20 per little bottle. they should carry it at the local walmart. DO NOT USE HERBAL ESSENCE DETANGLERS!

i use Smooth %26amp; Sleek conditioner and pantene leave-in conditioner and heat protector spray too. try flipping your head upside down and brushing it that way. i hate those wide toothed combs, try a paddle brush hope this helps!

When you comb your hair out start at the ends first and work your way up to the scalp because if you start at the scalp you are pulling all the tangles from the top down through more tangles. Also try coming your hair when you are still in the shower and the conditioner is still in it. Rinse and don't towel dry your hair by ruffing it up, just wrap your hair in the towel and put it up.

Try one of the spray in detanglers, my daughter uses them or she has the same problem.
