Any tips on straightening my hair WITHOUT burning myself?

I know it's kind of pathetic,

but every time I straighten my hair I burn myself.

Are there any awesome gloves or heat protectors out there for my hands?

Or are there any special straightening techniques I should know about?

Exactly when are you burning yourself? First, you apply the silicon stuff that helps protect your hair from the heat and keep it straight. Then, section out your hair, and zip it through the straightener holding the hair up like straight in the air (if you want body). Then, release the hair and let it fall...don't touch it until it's cool. If it's too hot for your face, let your hair rest on the iron with the iron closed (without hair in it).

Also it's best to use an iron that has an adjustable heat setting. Yours may be too hot.

you could wear mittens or something? but i think that that would impair your ability to be more careful and try not to burn yourself.

the only thing really is just try and be more careful.

There is a new hair straightener that you put in your hair just like you would a perm except without rollers that you can buy at any Walgreen's for Caucasian hair.Since I stopped using an iron on my hair I spend less time now.
